St. Paul’s is happy to promote the Healthy Start Scheme and encourages families to access their entitlement.
Healthy Start is a government scheme to improve the health of low-income pregnant women and families. Women who are 10˖ weeks pregnant and families with children under four years old qualify if they are on benefits and tax credits. The scheme offers eligible women and families, FREE vouchers worth £4.25 (or £8.50 for a baby in the first year) to spend on milk, fruit, vegetables and first stage infant formula milk. In addition, families also receive Healthy Start vitamin vouchers.

We were able to provide 20 play scheme places per day for children most affected by Covid over the Easter holidays. We opened for 9 days and ran afternoon sessions offering children healthy snacks and fun activities including Easter art & craft, sports and games, an Easter Egg Hunt, activities on the farm and trips out to Moseley Bog.
All the children were referred by our local schools and they really enjoyed themselves. The scheme was fully funded by ‘The Grimmitt Trust’ who have supported our play schemes previously and kindly donated enough funding to enable everything to be free of charge for parents. We were also donated Easter Eggs from the YMCA that were well received!
