For the last few years, we have entered the Royal Horticultural Society’s Heart of England in Bloom – It’s Your Neighbourhood Awards and we are pleased to report that, this year, we have been awarded: Level 5 – Outstanding!
The Award recognises achievements in 3 areas:
Community Participation, Environmental Responsibility and Gardening Achievement.
We undertake gardening and nature-based activities with many groups on the Farm and Malvern Street site such as our Evergreen Gardening Group, Countrymen Club, Tiny Farmers Club, children from the Nest Out-of-School Service, volunteers and young people.
The last 18 months have been difficult for everyone but we have managed to increase our growing areas with the help of the Prince’s Trust, built and planted new gardens and further “greened” the site by planting trees and turfing the derelict play area.
We plan to maintain these for years to come and continue to keep our site and local surroundings attractive and a pleasant place for all, while helping to improve the Health and Wellbeing of all our participants and service users.
A special thank you to the members of the Evergreen Gardening Group who have been responsible for the majority of flowers and vegetables grown this year and for coming in on the judging day in July to meet the RHS judge.
St. Paul’s Trust Chief Executive David Cusack said “I am extremely proud of the work of our dedicated staff and volunteers for achieving this during what has been a really difficult year. I want to thank you all for the work you put in to make our farm look so beautiful and a place of tranquillity”
